Looking to turn your everyday small business purchases into your next business trip? The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card makes it easy, offering bonus rewards in common business categories and the potential to turn cashback into valuable travel points.
It's one of my favorite business cards for good reasoning, boasting some unique spend categories that you can't really find elsewhere. I have it alongside an Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card to really capture that tail end of bonuses.
What Is The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card’s Welcome Bonus?
The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card boasts an impressive welcome offer especially for a card with no annual fee. You can earn $350 when you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening. And you can earn an additional $400 when you spend $6,000 on purchases within the first six months from the account opening.
This two part bonus means you can earn up to $750 bonus cashback if you meet all the spend requirements.
Can’t You Turn Cashback Into Points?
Technically the cashback you accumulate with the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card is earned as points. 1% cashback can also be referred to as 1x points.
If you want to truly maximize the value of your cashback/points, you need to have a qualifying transferable points credit card. Having the Ink Cash alone does not mean you will be able to transfer points to airlines or hotels; rather, you need to have at least one of the following credit cards:
- Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card → Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
- Chase Sapphire Reserve® → Chase Sapphire Reserve®
- Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card → Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card
With one of these cards, you can convert your $750 welcome bonus cashback into 75,000 Chase points. There are a number of things you can do with 75,000 Chase points, including flying the world in business class if you transfer your Chase points to Chase’s travel partners.
These travel partners also include hotels, allowing you to stay at a wide variety of destinations across the world. The options can be limitless.
Earn Rate: Be Rewarded with Office Supply Spending
As a travel-rewards credit card, the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card offers an extremely competitive earn rate for office supply spending to go toward your business travels. Here’s how the earn rate breaks down:
- 5 points per $1 spent in purchases at office supply stores, and on internet, cable and phone services each account anniversary year (Limit on $25,000 per year)
- 2 points per $1 spent on purchases at grocery stores and restaurants (Limit on $25,000 per year)
- 1 point per $1 spent on all other purchases.
This structure allows you to buy all your office needs while earning an excellent earn rate at 5 points per $1 spent. The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card also doesn’t have all different types of earn rates you have to keep track of as it has simple, straightforward earn rates. The 2 points per $1 spent at grocery stores and restaurants can be helpful to stock the office fridge or if you go out for a company dinner.
No Annual Fee
The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card boasts a no annual fee with great earnings rates. It's another expense your business does NOT have to worry about. A card you can keep for a lifetime. And you can add your employees for no cost as authorized users. The points they earn spending on the card go right back to the business.
Transferring Points: Unlocking Maximum Value
One of the best features of the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card is the ability to transfer your Chase points to a wide range of partners. This feature is best for travelers who want to get the best possible value out of their points by transferring to hotel and airline loyalty programs. Chase offers a superb 1:1 transfer ratio for all their partners. Here’s a list of airline partners followed by hotel partners:
Airline Partners
- Aer Lingus
- Air Canada
- British Airways
- Emirates
- Iberia Club
- Jet Blue
- Singapore Airlines
- Southwest Airlines
- United Airlines
- Virgin Atlantic

Redemption Example
When thinking of booking a business trip with Chase points, it’s always great to have an example to visualize the points in action. So let’s use an example of one of my recent redemptions…
I found a flight with Singapore Airlines via Air Canada’s site from New York to Frankfurt. I was able to find this redemption using a third party award tool. The flight came out to 60,000 points plus a bit of fees. An amazing redemption considering that booking that same Singapore Airlines flight with cash would cost $1,500 or more.
Now let’s run through the process of booking this redemption. I went to my Chase Ink Business Cash® Credit Card and transferred the points to my personal Chase Sapphire Reserve® card. The reason I did this is because you are not able to transfer Chase points to travel partners on the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card.
At the time, Air Canada was offering a 30% transfer bonus. That meant I could transfer 47,000 Chase points to Air Canada to hit the 60,000 needed to book (I could not transfer an amount between 46,000 and 47,000 as Chase only offers transfers of increments of 1,000 points).
I then booked the Singapore Airlines business class flight flight via Air Canada from JFK to Frankfurt, Germany. Success! This is just one great example of how far your points can go.
With 75,000 points from the welcome offer, you could also book the Hyatt Regency Tokyo Bay for 4 nights for that small business company trip. With deals like these, you can save thousands in travel for your business.
Chase Ink Business Cash® Credit Card versus Bank of America Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards
The Bank of America Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards makes for a strong competitor to the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card. With no annual fee, a huge statement credit and intriguing earning categories, it is a very interesting option. So let’s get into specifics.
With the BofA Business Custom Cash Rewards card, you receive a $300 statement credit after you spend $3,000 within 90 days of the account opening. You also earn 3% back on the category of your choice. You can choose your category to be gas stations, office supply stores, travel or TV & wireless. You also earn 2% back on dining purchases and 1% back on all other purchases. You can spend up to $50,000 in combined purchases from the category of your choice along with the 2% dining.
And don’t forget the no annual fee. Always great to not have to worry about another business expense.
Having a Business checking account with Bank of America would allow you to earn up to 75% more cash back on each purchase (5.25% for chosen category, 3.5% on dining and 1.75% on all purchases).
For a small business owner, the card you are going for all depends on your priorities. The Bank of America Business Advantage Custom Cash card is great if you are looking for cash back and spend $50,000 or more annually with your business. You can be comforted by the fact that you are getting an excellent cash back redemption.
However, if you or your employees travel regularly for business, the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card is a no-brainer. The Chase points you will earn from the welcome offer with the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card can be worth hundreds to thousands of dollars, saving money for your business. If you don’t frequently travel by plane, the BofA Business Custom Cash card will definitely be the best bang for your buck. For me, Chase points are hard to pass up. It is such an affordable and enjoyable way to travel the world.
