TLDR; The Caption by Hyatt Namba Osaka is a top hotel choice, offering an unbeatable location, spacious rooms, and incredible value when redeeming Hyatt points. A highly recommended stay for any traveler.
As part of my two-week trip to Japan this summer, I decided to visit Osaka for two days after visiting Kyoto. I wrapped up my stay at the Hyatt Place Kyoto, which is undoubtedly one of the best Hyatt hotels I’ve ever stayed at.
Since I’m a Hyatt loyalist, I always try to stay at Hyatt hotels whenever I travel and whenever possible. There’s only one Hyatt hotel in Osaka, which is the Caption by Hyatt Namba Osaka. While I really enjoyed my stay at the Hyatt Place Kyoto, which I wrote about in this review, I think I might’ve enjoyed my experience at the Caption by Hyatt Namba Osaka just as much or even more.
The Cost
One of the major reasons I’m a Hyatt loyalist is due to the fact that they are one of the many transfer partners of Chase. Back in May, I applied for the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card when it was offering its best offer ever: 100,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 within the first 3 months of account opening.
Hyatt is also well-known for providing excellent value for their points with redemptions, and just like with the Hyatt Place Kyoto, I redeemed points for my stay at the Caption by Hyatt Namba Osaka.
I stayed in Osaka for two nights, and I paid 16,000 points for a two-twin-bed room for two people. This would’ve cost me about $500 if I had booked out-of-pocket with cash. I was able to save hundreds of dollars and attain a value of about 3 cents per point for my points, which is an incredible value.
The Location
The location of the Caption by Hyatt Namba Osaka is unbeatable. As you can read in the name of the hotel, the hotel is located in Namba, which is one of Osaka’s central entertainment districts, bustling with things to do, eat, and nightlife.
The hotel is about a 15-minute walk from Dotonbori, which is arguably Osaka’s most famous attraction, containing a river canal with hundreds of shops, restaurants, street vendors, a Don Quijote with a Ferris wheel, and the famous Glico running man sign.
The hotel is also less than a ten-minute walk away from two nearby subway stations, Namba Station and Nippombashi Station. You can easily access the rest of Osaka, as well as either Shin-Osaka Station or Kansai/Itami airport, if you need to travel to/from somewhere else.
The Room
I booked a room that had two twin-sized beds and a capacity for two people. I was given a room on the highest floor (the 11th floor), and I found my room to be very nicely decorated and more spacious than the room I had at the Hyatt Place Kyoto.
I loved the art that was just above the two beds, and there were also little trinkets and wall decorations here and there that made me feel more at home.
When I was staying at the Hyatt Place Kyoto, the room felt a little cramped, especially when I left my suitcases open on the floor. However, at the Caption by Hyatt Namba Osaka, the room felt very spacious, and I could freely roam about the room, even with our suitcases left open.
The Amenities
Since I wasn’t staying in Osaka for long, I didn’t use many of the hotel’s amenities. The Caption by Hyatt Namba Osaka offers breakfast service, laundry service, a gym, and other amenities that are similar to what can be found at the Hyatt Place Kyoto.
I didn’t have free breakfast, nor did I use the washing machines, so I can’t comment on how they are. However, it is convenient to have laundry services located right inside the hotel, so I definitely would’ve used the washing machines if I were staying longer.
Final Remarks
Overall, my stay at the Caption by Hyatt Namba Osaka was just as memorable as my time at the Hyatt Place Kyoto, if not more. Between its unbeatable location in the heart of Namba, spacious and stylish rooms, and excellent value when redeeming Hyatt points, this property is an easy recommendation for anyone visiting Osaka. While I didn’t fully utilize the on-site amenities during my short stay, the convenience of laundry services, gym access, and breakfast options adds even more value for longer trips.
If you’re a Hyatt loyalist, or even just someone looking for a comfortable, well-situated hotel in Osaka, this property delivers on all fronts. Whether you’re strolling through Dotonbori, exploring Osaka’s neighborhoods, or making day trips across Kansai, staying at the Caption by Hyatt Namba Osaka makes it all the more seamless.
